House-sitting

I am house-sitting for the month of July in a lovely, big place with all the amenities - but no sewing machine. Therefore I have been a little less than creative lately, and I have to say, it's been wearing on me. I don't know why, but making pretty things seems to be a fundamental need for me. If I don't do it for a while, I wilt.

Tonight, at least, I found solace in weeding the garden. It isn't creating, but tidying things still feels good in that making-things-beautiful kind of way.

And since blog posts are more fun with pictures, here are some of my woodland garden back home in Corbeil. I took them last time I was home as a tonic against lost-in-the-big-city syndrome.

It says "Shadowlurk". Yes, I named my garden. I was feeling very Tolkein-esque that day.
